Multibridge works as an independent rack-mounted converter, or as a PCI Express connected capture playback solution fully compatible with the famous DeckLink software. That makes Multibridge more than a converter, because when its connected to a host computer it runs DeckLink software, giving you all the great features of the DeckLink family of capture cards.

Cross Platform Easy Settings

Setting connections are easy as Multibridge features “Multibridge Utility”, an easy and fast to use picture based user interface. If you're a broadcast engineer running Windows™ or a creative designer editing on Mac OS X™, then Multibridge Utility runs on both platforms. Connecting via USB 2.0, Multibridge Utility finds your Multibridge hardware automatically. Using a standard application interface with simple pop up menus to change settings, Multibridge eliminates the complexity of little switches as found on other converters. Settings are then permanently stored in nonvolatile memory until changed.

When connected to a host computer via PCI Express, Multibridge is fully compatible with the famous DeckLink driver which provides compatibility with virtually all video software. QuickTime™ and DirectShow™ are parts of the Mac OS X™ and Windows™ operating systems that enable application software to capture and playback via any compatible hardware. QuickTime™ or DirectShow™ compatible hardware allows software from large editing tools to small custom utilities to integrate with Multibridge. Unlike expensive pre-built systems, with QuickTime™ and DirectShow™ compatibility, you have the freedom to add software applications and utilities to tailor your system exactly the way you need. To make things even easier, we include setups for editing software such as Final Cut Pro™ and Premiere Pro®. Just click, and start editing!

Blackmagic Media Express

When you're doing DVD authoring, streaming or visual effects, you don’t need the complexity of using editing software just to capture and output to tape a few clips. Our included Blackmagic Media Express application lets you capture and play clips, taking care of communicating with decks via RS-422. Blackmagic Media Express software is easy to use. Just enter an IN and OUT timecode points and select get, or put, and your clip will be transferred between Multibridge and your broadcast deck. It’s all automatic, so it’s fast. Blackmagic Media Express is compatible with both Mac OS X™ and Windows™ and you can even grab still frames from decks!

Adobe® Photoshop® Plug-ins

Adobe Photoshop is the perfect tool for broadcast graphics and is the industry standard for designers worldwide. Grabbing and outputting graphics direct from video is easy using Multibridge’s Photoshop acquire and export plug-ins. You can even select 16 bit RGB images, and output them with 16 bit conversion to 10 bit SDI video. That gives you the extra quality broadcast graphics need. Because all SD and HD color space conversions to SDI are at unity gain, it’s impossible to generate graphics with illegal colors beyond the industry standard 100% RGB telecine clip level.

Disk Speed Test

Configuring a speed disk array for high speed uncompressed high definition video is getting easier. Even SATA disks can be connected together for low cost arrays with amazing speed and capacity. Use Disk Speed Test (included free) to get a great real world indication of your disk array performance. Reported in a simple frames per second count, Disk Speed Test uses long sustained block transfers just like capturing and playing video, so it’s more accurate than generic disk test utilities.

Blackmagic Software Codec

Sometimes you might not have a Multibridge installed, so with the Blackmagic Software Codec you can still access 10 bit uncompressed files, even with 16 bit rendering. It’s only takes a minute to download and get full media file access even without Multibridge hardware installed. You can read and render files on as many systems as you like. Even pass our codec to your clients and freelancers so they can move files to portable disks and work offline too! The Blackmagic Software Codec even reads and renders other uncompressed files on both Mac OS X™ and Windows™ for QuickTime™ and AVI for Windows™.

Update your Firmware in Seconds

Multibridge Utility lets you updated firmware in a snap. Whenever you download new software releases from the Blackmagic Design's website, Multibridge will check your firmware and ask if you would like to update to the newer version, all automatically. Blackmagic Design’s engineering team are constantly working on new updates and features, so you won’t want to miss the latest updates.

Simplicity of USB

USB connections are now the standard serial interface used on Windows™ and Apple Mac OS X™ computers. Simply connect Multibridge to a notebook computer via USB and change settings. That’s great when you need to view rack mounted waveform monitors when making adjustments.

Change Audio Monitoring Fast

Zero Latency
