As Asia's most advanced and Singapore's only Digital Intermediate facility, Blackmagic Design has pioneered an international standard data-centric feature film post workflow that includes high speed film scanning, in-sequence data-grading, CGI, VFX, compositing and finishing in 4K, 2K and HD.Feeding the advanced pipeline are pin-registered Lasergraphics film scanners able to scan 35mm and 16mm to 4K, 2K and HD at speeds of up to 16 frames per second and quality levels far superior to telecine.
With the recent addition of MTI’s Control Dailies, Blackmagic Design can now also provide faster than real time processing of dailies and transfer from film, RED or 2k DPX files to HD tape, Blu-ray and other SD deliverable formats. This allows Blackmagic Design to have a dedicated room for grading and sound syncing feature film and long form Dailies in addition to two existing da Vinci Resolve grading suites.
The Control Dailies system outputs simultaneous, asynchronous video streams, each with different Layoff Configurations including VANC and VITC and provides complete metadata collection and editorial file generation such as ALE and Flex, (including multiple burn-in generators for KeyKode, audio TC, record TC, scene, take, camera & sound rolls). Control Dailies Matte and Reticle generator also includes semi-transparent mattes for all industry standard aspect ratios.
Further enhancing workflow efficiency and productivity, Blackmagic Design has transformed the colour grading experience with the very latest real time da Vinci Resolve data-grading suites featuring unlimited windows and defocus effects and automated object tracking. With the Resolve grading system, all shots are assembled in-sequence according to the EDL. Tweaks and changes to the grade can be made effortlessly to any shot, anywhere in the sequence, at any time. Grading time is also reduced by up to 75 percent a fraction of the time required with a traditional telecine approach.
Another significant feature of Blackmagic Design’s advanced infrastructure is its network of high-powered Autodesk VFX suites. With shared plug-ins, set-ups and media libraries, complex scenes can be worked on simultaneously in different suites enabling a powerful and truly collaborative DI workflow.
As the robust and reliable backbone to the facility, an ever expanding SAN storage system and a high-speed fibreoptic file transfer network connecting more than 30 workstations throughout the facility allow data to be moved from scan to grade to visual effects and finally film-out with ease. This advanced infrastructure enables Blackmagic Design to handle multiple digital intermediate projects simultaneously.
Blackmagic Design is also the only Truelight calibrated post production facility in Singapore and the only facility capable of colour calibrating its digital intermediate process with reputable film laboratories around the world. This enables Blackmagic Design to work with complete confidence that absolute colour fidelity will be maintained across all stages of post production from dailies, offline, VFX and final grade to film-out.

3D Stereoscopic Services
Constantly at the forefront of technology Blackmagic Design has recently upgraded its existing extensive post production infrastructure to offer 3D Stereoscopic editing and digital intermediate services for 3D Stereoscopic feature films originated on film, RED, data or HD.
Blackmagic Design's daVinci Resolve grading suites including the new Impresario grading interface and specialized monitoring systems enable 3D Stereoscopic colour grading in any resolution up to and including 4K. Blackmagic Design's SAN storage capacity, bandwidth and data through-put also allow dual streams of 2K data to be graded simultaneously in real time enabling Blackmagic Design to handle digital deliverables for such items as digital 3D Stereoscopic dailies quickly and efficiently.
